As we turn the page from summer to fall and from baseball to football, there is another page that is clearly turning – the US economy and in particular the “construction economy.” A common topic whether I’m talking to business leaders or site foreman is the tightening of resources, and the challenge of finding the right people, with the right skill set, and the right attitude.
Here at AdvanceTEC, we are definitely not immune to the by-products of an improving construction economy: the tightening of resources, extended lead-times, and faster than “fast track” project schedules. It may seem daunting to some, but I am happy to report that AdvanceTEC is well positioned to execute and serve our clients as the construction economy kicks-off once again. Let me tell you why I’m so confident.
First, it’s our never-ending commitment to locate, hire, train, and retain the best people in the business. When there’s an uptick in the economy, it’s that “retain” part that’s incredibly important. We provide a dynamic environment, collaborative culture, and treat people good even when business is bad – and their loyalty pays off when times are good again.
Second, we have built strong relationships with our skilled subcontractors and critical suppliers. We treat them with fairness and commercial respect. We believe this is how business should be done, and our approach is paid back with quality, craftsmanship, and teams willing to go the extra mile.
Lastly, it’s about embracing technology as an enabler and an efficiency tool, and we use it across all aspects of the business – engineering, design, estimating, procurement and construction. Throughout our history we’ve invested in technology consistently, and those investments pay dividends for our teams and for our clients.
So, whether you are preparing for a post-season playoff run, a run at the BCS, or simply serving your people and your clients – it’s game time, so lace ‘em tight and get out and play.
